France, your 70 years are over!

Jeremiah 29:10-11 NIV
This is what the Lord says: “When seventy years are completed for Babylon (France), I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. [11] For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

As an American living in France D-Day has a special significance, and it makes me feel patriotic and proud. More than 20,000 Americans lost their lives in that Normandy offensive. The purpose was freedom, freedom from tyranny. Okay, I know the Americans weren’t the only ones to lose their lives that day and in the weeks to come. Thousands of men gave their lives for a cause. I once read that more than 200,000 German soldiers died during the Normandy offensive!

What does this have to do with the 70 years Jeremiah talks about? Well, it just made me think about how many lives have been sacrificed so that this nation could be “set free” spiritually-speaking. Many men and women, missionary and native French, have labored, prayed for, loved and given their lives for the spiritual well-being of this nation. Dan and I both have given the best years of our lives to see France enter into her destiny.

It just seemed to me today, while I was thinking and praying about this subject, that it could be the time for France to enter a new era, one of freedom and prosperity, of hope and a glorious future! I think that the prayers and worship which have been offered up these past 70 years are at this moment being mixed with the incense of heaven (Revelation 8:4-5), ready to be poured back on this nation as a sign of His presence, His never ending grace and everlasting love for France! Thank you, Jesus!
